Strengthening Financial Resilience to Drought: A Feasibility Study For An Index-Based Drought Risk Financing Solution for Pastoralists in Burkina Faso

This feasibility study, conducted by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the World Bank, aims to inform development and implementation of policies to increase the resilience of pastoralists Burkina Faso and the Sahel against severe drought shocks. It aims to provide the background knowledge to make an informed decision whether and where investing resources in designing and implementing an IBDRFI program can achieve public policy objectives. The feasibility assessment considers technical (i.e. product design), socio-economic (potential demand and value) and operational (supply chain) factors in the design and implementation of IBDRFI solutions in Burkina Faso.
