Alwaleed Alatabani

Alwaleed Alatabani is a Practice Manager in the World Bank's Finance Competitiveness and Innovation (FCI) team in East and Southern Africa. Previously, he led the FCI Global Practice team and program in Vietnam as the Lead Financial Sector Specialist. From 2013-2015, he was the Lead Financial Sector specialist based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Prior to that, he was on an external assignment with the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Tokyo, where he served as an Economic Advisor in the Credit Risk Analysis Department. Before moving to Tokyo, he was the Senior Financial Sector Specialist and cluster leader for Sudan, South Sudan and Ethiopia for almost four years. Alwaleed also worked as a Senior Risk Management Officer in the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), for four years from 2004-08, based in Washington DC. Alwaleed has extensive work experience on advising countries on a broad array of financial sector development topics and has undertaken assignments in more than 30 countries. Alwaleed holds two Masters degrees from the University of London and London School of Economics.
