G20 Seminar on Innovation for Inclusive Development: Financial Resilience Against Natural Disasters

On January 16, the World Bank Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance program led by Olivier Mahul, presented at the session on financial resilience against natural disasters at the G20 Seminar on Innovation for Inclusive Development, which was co-organized by the Bank and JMoF.

The session was chaired by Ceyla Pazarbasioglu, Vice President, Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions, World Bank. The purpose of the session was to: 1) Discuss the importance of strengthening financial resilience against disasters as part of macrofiscal policy; 2) Showcase good practices and share key lessons on domestic and regional disaster risk financing polices and instruments; and 3) Discuss the forward-looking trends and future shifts in disaster risk finance that would warrant consideration by Finance Ministries both from developed and developing countries.
