Disaster Risk Finance: Operational Knowledge and Learning - Year in Review 2023

The year 2023 marked a period of meaningful engagement and learning for the Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance Program’s (DRFIP) Knowledge Management and Communications team. We engaged with 11,120 stakeholders through the Disaster Risk Finance (DRF) Community of Practice and facilitated the training of 30,572 individuals from 133 countries, offering courses in 8 languages to ensure broad accessibility and understanding. The program’s digital platforms have served as a valuable resource for stakeholders, with the Community of Practice and Financial Protection Forum website being accessed by over 675,000 representatives from 171 countries. Through the year, the team received a consistent 95%+ overall rating across all flagship programs.

The Year in Review 2023 highlights our most popular publications, events, blogs, and knowledge pieces through the calendar year. This includes the 'DRF Solutions for Climate-resilient Livelihoods in the Agricultural Sector' knowledge series, Symposium on Index Insurance and Disaster Risk Financing in French-Speaking Africa, and our flagship ‘In the Spotlight’ interview series that was launched last year, showcasing trailblazers in the DRF space.

Looking ahead, the DRFIP remains committed to its mission of enhancing disaster risk finance strategies and solutions. The team values the partnerships, participation, and shared learning that have characterized the past year and anticipates continued collaboration and progress in the year to come.
