[Courtesy Announcement] Webinar: When Disaster Strikes! How the Catastrophe Bond Market Can Support Financial Resilience in Asia

Starts in:
19 October 2021

We are pleased to invite you to participate in an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) webinar on catastrophe bonds jointly organized by the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC)/Asia-Pacific Financial Forum (APFF), the Hong Kong Insurance Authority, and the World Bank Treasury. The webinar will provide a forum for government officials and relevant stakeholders to hear how catastrophe bonds can be used to increase financial resilience against disasters in the Asia region.

The webinar aims to provide participants with an introduction to catastrophe bonds and a discussion of the World Bank's Capital at Risk Notes Program which has been used to issue catastrophe bonds for governments such as Mexico and the Philippines. We will also discuss the potential for catastrophe bonds in Asia-Pacific's mega-urban regions such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as discussing Hong Kong, China’s new bespoke regulatory regime and grant scheme for insurance-linked securities.
